Program Structure
The Electrical Training Alliance of South Florida (ETASF) is an IBEW–NECA partnership offering approximately four years of paid work and classroom instruction toward the journeyman wireman occupation. Its official flyer describes 8,000 hours of on-the-job training and work for participating contractors. No previous electrical experience is required. Confirm contractor assignment and the expected job start before making employment plans.
The program lists an East Coast location at 1601 NW 17th Avenue, Miami, FL 33125, and a West Coast location at 17221 Alico Center Road, Fort Myers, FL 33967. The application text specifies Suite 1 for Fort Myers. These are two locations of the same advertised program. Ask which location and work area you would be assigned; classroom hours, meeting frequency and required travel are not confirmed here.
Requirements
Applicants must be at least 18, have a high school or college diploma, hold a valid driver’s license and have their own transportation. Supply transcripts showing a passing algebra grade. Applicants who did not pass algebra must complete the specified Electrical Training Alliance online Technical Math course. Foreign school documents require verification through the contact named on the application page.
The document checklist also includes a birth certificate, Social Security card, photo, and work authorization or DD-214 where applicable. After completing the application, qualifying applicants take an algebra and reading-comprehension aptitude test. A score of at least 4 out of 9 is required to advance to the JATC interview.
Application Process
Begin at Local 349’s official Apprenticeship School page and follow its online account instructions. Account approval may take 24–48 hours. Submit all documents within 30 days of the original application date or the application may be archived. The page describes a process lasting approximately six months to a year, with interviewed applicants remaining eligible for two years; selection and employment are not guaranteed.
As checked September 12, 2026, the page says applications are accepted year-round. Its text gives April 30 as the annual cutoff for that year’s fall class, but its embedded flyer gives March 1, 2027 for the 2027–2028 class. Confirm the applicable deadline with ETASF at 305-324-7578 before relying on either date.
What You Earn
The sponsor advertises tuition-free training, wages and insurance and retirement benefits. Application fees, books, tools and other participant charges are not itemized; tuition-free does not establish that every expense is covered. The flyer’s wage figure has no effective date, so ask for a current schedule and benefit eligibility rules.
Apprenticeship.gov lists Miami Electrical Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee, sponsor FL007450001, for Electricians at the same Miami address. This identifies the apprenticeship; it does not establish automatic licensing or an immediate opening.
