Program Structure
Toledo Electrical Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee offers a five-year Inside/Commercial Electrical Apprenticeship jointly sponsored by IBEW Local 8 and NECA. This listing covers commercial and industrial inside work; the sponsor’s residential and telecommunications programs are separate tracks. Apprentices install and maintain electrical distribution, lighting, motor controls and related systems in buildings such as factories, hospitals and schools.
The sponsor describes at least 8,000 on-the-job hours and at least 720 classroom hours. These are minimums, not exact totals. The training center is at 803 Lime City Road, Rossford, OH 43460, and the sponsor describes its training region as northwest Ohio. Confirm job travel, applicant residency rules and the current class calendar before arranging other commitments. The published pages do not establish a precise weekly attendance schedule.
Requirements
Applicants must be at least 17, have a high school diploma or GED and have completed one credit of high school algebra. Provide a birth certificate and official transcripts. Veterans seeking consideration for military training should provide a DD-214. The program charges a $20 application processing fee and accepts check, money order, Mastercard or Visa, but not cash.
Qualified applicants are interviewed and ranked using scholastic achievement and work experience. Scores remain active for two years. Selected applicants must pass a physical examination and drug test, and no apprentice may begin work without medical clearance. The current application page does not specify an aptitude-test requirement; confirm any additional screening with the office.
Application Process
Applications require an appointment. Start at the official Apply page and call 419-666-8088, Monday through Friday, 7 a.m.–4:30 p.m. The page offers online scheduling but also retains a statement that online appointments start in “Mid-December,” without a year. As checked September 12, 2026, the current online appointment window is therefore unresolved; call to confirm availability.
All required documents must arrive within 60 days of applying or the application becomes invalid. Apprentices are selected in rank order. Acceptance into one TEJATC program removes the applicant from the other program selection lists. An application or interview is not a guaranteed job offer.
What You Earn
Selected apprentices receive paid on-the-job training and employer-paid benefits. The sponsor advertises no tuition, but the $20 processing fee still applies. Books, tools and other charges are not itemized here, so request a complete cost breakdown. No dated hourly wage schedule is provided; ask the office for current pay and benefit conditions.
The sponsor describes the program as registered, and Apprenticeship.gov lists Electricians JATC, Toledo, sponsor OH011780006, with the Electricians occupation at the same Rossford address. Apprenticeship completion and any applicable licensing requirements remain separate.
