Program Structure
The Electrical Training Institute of San Diego and Imperial Counties offers a five-year Inside Wireman apprenticeship through the San Diego Electrical JATC, associated with IBEW Local 569 and San Diego NECA. This listing covers electrical inside-wireman training, separate from sound and communication, transportation systems and electrician-trainee routes.
The program combines paid work for electrical contractors with classroom and laboratory instruction. The sponsor describes approximately 8,000 work hours and at least 1,000 hours of related instruction. Coursework covers electrical theory, conduit, drawings, controls, safety and electrical systems. The first four curriculum modules use a two-week day-school format; confirm the full attendance calendar.
ETI serves San Diego and Imperial counties, but the inside-wireman overview specifically describes work throughout San Diego County. Ask about Imperial County assignments and your classroom location. The San Diego campus is at 4675 Viewridge Avenue.
Requirements
Applicants need a high school diploma, GED or CHSPE certificate, official education records, a valid driver's license, and qualifying algebra coursework. The application instructions accept a year of high school algebra, a semester of college algebra, or Electrical Training Alliance Tech Math. Foreign transcripts require a certified English translation.
The sponsor currently lists an application age of 17½, while the California apprenticeship listing says 18. Their transcript instructions also differ: ETI requests PDF uploads, while the state listing describes sealed transcripts. Confirm the age milestone and document procedure with ETI before applying; these differences are unresolved here.
Application Process
ETI states that online applications may be submitted at any time. Qualified applicants take an aptitude test in algebra and reading comprehension, then an oral interview. Interview scores determine placement in an eligible pool for up to two years. Class starts and selections depend on industry demand.

What You Earn
Apprentices earn wages through contractor work and receive scheduled increases as they progress. No hourly rate is quoted here because the sponsor's displayed wage table does not identify an effective date.
ETI states that tuition and registration have no charge, but apprentices purchase required books and hand tools. Ask for the current materials budget.
