Program Overview

InterCoast Colleges offers its Electrical Training Program at the Fairfield branch campus, 320 Campus Lane, Suite C. The program page lists a certificate, a hybrid format that combines online coursework with hands-on labs at the campus, 40 weeks and 49 academic credits. The school catalog for January 1, 2026 through December 31, 2027, last updated October 13, 2026, lists the program at 900 clock hours and 40 weeks to complete. InterCoast's Fairfield performance fact sheet for 2024 and 2025, revised May 1, 2026, titles the program 50 weeks. The two figures conflict, and neither document explains the difference.

Curriculum Highlights

The catalog describes related training in safety, the electrical code, equipment and trade knowledge. Courses cover construction math, OSHA safety and the National Electrical Code; electrical theory and Ohm's law; residential and commercial installations; grounding, bonding and lighting systems; AC theory and transformers; specialty systems; motors and motor controllers; and generators, emergency power and photovoltaic installations. The catalog totals 585 lecture hours and 315 lab hours. Trades students must attend lab each week, and electrical students complete OSHA-10 training with live video sessions.

Admission Requirements

The program page says a high school diploma or GED is required and that Ability-to-Benefit may be available through an admissions advisor. The catalog asks applicants for written proof of high school graduation or its equivalent. InterCoast says the program is approved only in California and is intended for students who plan to live and work there.

Cost & Financial Aid

The catalog addendum revised 9/18/26 lists estimated total charges of $22,500 for the entire Electrical Training Program, split into $9,000, $9,000 and $4,500 payment periods. The performance fact sheet reports the same $22,500 for students who completed on time in 2024 and 2025 and notes that charges can be higher for students who do not finish on time. InterCoast says financial aid is available to those who qualify. The college is accredited by ACCET and approved to operate by the California Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education.

Career Outcomes

InterCoast says the program prepares students for entry-level electrical trainee roles in California, such as electrical helper or trainee. California's Labor Commissioner lists InterCoast College at the Fairfield address as approved school 187, open to the public and approved to offer the whole General Electrician curriculum. InterCoast states that the certificate is not a license to practice independently; students obtain an Electrical Trainee card from the state to work under a licensed electrician.
