Program Structure
Hartford Electricians Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee is the partnership of IBEW Local 35 and the Connecticut Chapter of NECA. Its electrical-construction apprenticeship combines a five-year program and 8,000 hours of on-the-job training with related theory classes in the evening. The sponsor describes classes running from August or September through May or June, with job training throughout the year. Confirm the assigned weekly schedule; a total classroom-hour figure is not published here.
The service area is Local 35's published Connecticut jurisdiction, including Hartford, Manchester, Norwich, and the other towns on its jurisdiction list. This does not establish an applicant residency requirement. Requirements
Applicants must be at least 17 when applying and have a high school diploma, GED, or associate degree or higher. A passing algebra course or the NJATC Tech Math alternative is required. Bring a photo ID showing your current address for the in-person application and arrange official sealed transcripts.
Qualified candidates take an aptitude test and may proceed to a committee interview. Conditional selection requires a drug test. Meeting the minimum requirements allows consideration; it does not assure selection into the class or employment with a contractor.
Application Process
The sponsor advertises year-round, in-person applications on weekdays from 8 a.m. to noon or by appointment, but also retains older application-period and public-health-emergency wording. Current intake status is therefore unconfirmed. Call the JATC before visiting and ask about the next selection cycle, the correct office, and document deadlines.
The page asks for transcripts postmarked within 30 days and also discusses receiving them for aptitude testing. Arrange transcripts promptly and confirm how the deadline applies to your application. What You Earn
Apprentices employed by participating contractors earn wages and benefits. The sponsor describes training without a tuition charge, with students purchasing educational materials each year. The full participant cost remains unknown: ask about current materials, tools, dues, and any application charges. No dated cash wage schedule is provided here.
