Program Overview
Atlantic Technical College lists an Electricity program of 1200 hours, about 12 months full-time. The page describes residential and commercial wiring, troubleshooting, conduit, blueprint reading, and the National Electrical Code. The 2026 schedule lists Electricity at 1200 hours. The program page lists traditional or hybrid delivery. Electricity 1 on that schedule is a separate 750-hour program.
Traditional delivery is 100 percent classroom, Monday through Friday, 7:05 a.m. to 1:50 p.m. Hybrid means less than 100 percent of the hours are online. The program is offered in August. The 2026 schedule lists a career-and-technical semester start on August 10, 2026, and new-student registration beginning June 22, 2026. Start with a program information session.
With additional successful testing, the college says completion may substitute for the first year of an electrical apprenticeship. The 2024-2025 catalog lists program I460312.
The college is at 4700 Coconut Creek Parkway, Coconut Creek, FL 33063. The syllabus phone number is 754-321-5100.
Curriculum Highlights
Named topics include alternating-current and basic electrical theory, residential and commercial circuits, conduit bending, motors and controls, blueprint and wiring-diagram reading, OSHA 10-hour safety, test equipment, and employability skills.
The 2026-2027 syllabus is titled Electricity and also prints Program Name: Carpentry, which does not match that title. The syllabus prints Residential 2020 Edition and National Electrical Code, 2020 Edition. A classroom-materials line lists 2017 NEC.
Admission Requirements
You must be 16 or older, attend an information session, complete basic skills testing or an exemption, and meet a program counselor. Certificate-program applicants need 12 consecutive months of Florida residency for in-state tuition. The 2024-2025 catalog says a program of 450 clock hours or more requires minimum basic skills in reading, language arts, and mathematics to receive a certificate at completion. The program page lists basic skills testing or an exemption separately.
Cost & Financial Aid
In-state tuition and fees are $4,420: tuition $3,360, a $900 lab fee, a $15 basic skills test, a $125 registration fee, and a $20 annual activity fee. Out-of-state tuition and fees are $14,500, with tuition $13,440 and the same other amounts. The 2026 schedule prints those amounts on the Electricity row next to 1200 hours, under in-state and out-of-state tuition. Exam costs are extra.
Career Outcomes
Students are prepared to take an approved industry certification or licensure exam. The page does not name the exam and does not say completion is a Florida electrician license. You may be eligible for associate-degree transfer credit at Broward College or another state college. The catalog says a certificate of completion or an applied technology diploma depends on finishing program requirements, including basic skills when those apply. It does not say which of those two this program awards. The college is accredited by the Commission of the Council on Occupational Education. That agency does not accredit apprenticeship programs, and those programs do not qualify for Title IV aid.
