Program Overview
State Technical College of Missouri offers an Electrical Technology Associate of Applied Science degree at its campus at One Technology Drive in Linn. The current catalog requires 72 credits. Its degree plan spans two academic years with a four-credit summer internship between them, combining electrical coursework with general education and graduation requirements. The program page describes hands-on learning in labs, with real-world electrical projects in the college's Safety Village.
This is the Electrical Technology construction and maintenance program, separate from the college's Electrical Distribution Systems program. The catalog also mentions an Electromechanical one-year certificate; use the Electrical Technology degree plan when discussing your course sequence.
Curriculum Highlights
The first year covers codes and standards, alternative energy systems, blueprint reading and project development, circuitry fundamentals, motor controls, professional development, and residential wiring. The second year adds motor controls, commercial wiring, power distribution, motors and generators, industrial wiring, and building controls and automation. Lab training includes conduit bending, motor controls, power distribution, transformers, and low-voltage systems, and students earn CPR, first aid, and OSHA 10-hour certifications. Core courses require a grade of C or better.
The required internship is at least 320 hours of program-approved work as a construction or manufacturing electrician under an employer agreement; it is not a promise of a particular employer or permanent job.
