Program Structure
The Electrical Training Institute of Southern Nevada (ETISN), a nonprofit training institute in Las Vegas, offers an Inside Wireman apprenticeship and works in partnership with NECA contractors and IBEW Local 357. Apprentices must complete 8,000 hours of on-the-job training and at least 720 hours of classroom instruction. The sponsor publishes no fixed length in years: the overall length depends on how quickly work hours accumulate and academic and testing requirements are met.
Inside Wireman instruction covers electrical fundamentals, wiring methods, code, jobsite safety, conduit bending, blueprint reading and motor controls. Apprentices rotate through job sites and contractors. The separate Installer Technician program (6,000 work hours and 640 classroom hours) is not the route described here.
Requirements
Applicants must be at least 18, have a high school diploma or GED, hold a valid driver's license and Social Security number, and have completed Algebra I or a higher math course with a C or better. They must pass a standardized aptitude test covering math and reading comprehension and an interview, show the physical ability to perform essential job tasks, and be prepared for drug testing throughout the program.
Reliable transportation is required to reach any job site in the sponsor's Southern Nevada jurisdiction, and apprentices must be able to work full-time on any assigned shift. Nevada's state program list places the electrician program in Clark and Lincoln counties and the part of Nye County south of the Mount Diablo baseline.
Application Process
Applications were closed when the official page was checked on October 6, 2026. The page says to check back for updates and gives no reopening date. When applications open, the published steps are an online application, uploaded diploma or GED and transcripts, an aptitude test and a panel interview.
Applicants are ranked on test scores and interview performance and selected in rank order as openings become available. What You Earn
The sponsor says apprentices earn wages and benefits while they learn but publishes no wage amounts. Revised standards posted for the Nevada State Apprenticeship Council's May 21, 2026 meeting set ten pay periods, from 35% to 90% of the journeyworker rate, which they give as $58.83 an hour at registration, without a date that rate took effect. Training has no tuition cost. Apprentices pay for curriculum books, basic hand tools, work clothing and boots, and transportation, and the sponsor provides no direct financial aid or scholarships.
Nevada's program list, in a file dated July 18, 2025, shows IBEW Electrical Workers Local 357 JATC's Electrician program as NV001470001, separate from its telecommunications program. That entry gives the sponsor's phone number and spells the street "Legion Way"; the sponsor's pages spell it "Leigon Way". The list supports program identity; it does not show that applications are open or grant an individual electrician license.
