Program Structure
Charlotte Electrical JATC, operating as Carolinas Electrical Training Institute (CETI), trains electrical apprentices in Charlotte, North Carolina. The committee includes representatives of IBEW Local 379 and the Atlantic Coast Chapter of NECA. Selected apprentices are placed with Local 379 signatory contractors. Local 379's broader territory can include work outside North Carolina; the Charlotte facility is the training location described here.
The program uses the National Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee four-year curriculum. CETI requires 900 classroom hours over four years and 8,000 hours of paid on-the-job training. Apprentices must pass the NJATC Craft Certification Examination and Performance Test. The listed facility is 13530 S Ridge Dr, Charlotte, NC 28273. The sponsor says the program is registered with the State and Federal Department of Labor; a numbered federal record was not independently verified.
Requirements
Applicants must be at least 18, hold a high school diploma or GED, show successful completion of one full high-school algebra credit with a passing grade or 4,000 hours of related experience, possess a valid driver's license, and possess a Social Security card. Selection also uses oral interviews. Read the current qualifications on the official program page before applying. Physical, drug-screen, and background rules are not published on the public pages; ask CETI what happens after an interview or offer.
Application Process
CETI's homepage says it is accepting applications for the August 2027 school year, with a deadline of March 31, 2027. Questions can go to Christy at 704-523-7001. Confirm current instructions with the JATC before paying any school fee or traveling.

Completing CETI is not a North Carolina electrician license.
